Dermalinfusion vs Hydrafacial

Dermal Infusion

We are often asked, “What is the difference between Hydrafacial and Silkpeel Dermalinfusion?” and “What can it do for me?”

Well, the answers are pretty straight forward if you know and understand the products. However, we recognize that if you’re looking at a facial, then it is not clear at all.

Here at WMA, we considered this very question in incredible detail when we were purchasing for the new clinic in Main Street, so it might be useful to understand our thinking, and why we chose Dermalinfusion.

Dr Kennea was emphatic that it needed to be more than merely cosmetic. Sarah wanted to add something that offered a facial AND was customizable as a treatment platform in the medical sense.

After much research, the decision was an emphatic ‘Yes’ for Envy’s Silkpeel Dermalinfusion. With the full benefit of hindsight, this was easily the right decision.

So….Let’s talk about them individually in simple terms.

HydraFacial

HydraFacial is a prevalent brand name, and the device is an excellent self-contained system.

The treatment cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin. It houses it’s patented Vortex tip, which simultaneously removes dead skin cells and other impurities from the skin.

It also simultaneously infuses the skin with serums that cleanse and moisturize.

HydraFacial achieves exfoliation by combining Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid to exfoliate the skin.

Hydrafacial is extremely popular in day spas and Hotel Spa’s as a one-size-fits-all treatment, and for its ability to safely deliver excellent facial treatments.

The treatment takes about 30 minutes, and there is virtually no pain or downtime.

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion

Envy’s Silkpeel Dermalinfusion device is less well known, and this is because it is a more customizable system, designed from medical technology, and tends to be chosen by Physician Directed practices.

Unlike Hydrafacial, Silkpeel Dermalinfusion is used on the face, body, and hands.

Most significantly, Silkpeel does not use chemicals to achieve the peel (exfoliation). The handpiece uses a physical diamond-tipped handpiece, with a pneumatic vacuum, which means that the patients experience exfoliation to the point of resurfacing. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, which has the effect of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Conclusions

So, our view was that HydraFacial is more of a moisturizing, cleansing facial. It does allow for superficial penetration, but not resurfacing, and, it’s restricted to the face.

Dermalinfusion can be used anywhere as required on the body or hands.

In comparison, Dermalinfusion is capable of simultaneous resurfacing and serum infusion. Moreover, the serum is delivered at the point where your skin is at the peak moment of receptivity.

Dermalinfusion is highly-customizable and deeply penetrates to the epidermal-dermal junction. In doing so, Dermalinfusion stimulates collagen production and corrects a wide range of cosmetic issues, which includes fine lines, acne, wrinkles, Hyperpigmentation, congestion, dullness, roughness, and scarring.

Serums

SilkPeel uses it’s own patented serums. Four different serums are used during the treatment.

Dermal Infusion Serums

The Four Serums

Ultra Hydrating Pro-Infusion Serum

delivers intensive hydration using Hyaluronic Acid. It treats Dehydrated skin, lack of volume, dull and lackluster skin.

Clarity Pore Clarifying Pro-Infusion Serum

uses a combination of Salicylic Acid, Bakuchiol, and Oregano Oil for its hydrating properties to gently exfoliate clients and treat acne, breakouts, and dry skin.

The Patented Lumyxl Brightening serum

combines various unique brightening agents that are used to lift and lighten existing pigments due to post inflammation or sun damage.

The Vitamin C Pro-Infusion Serum

infuses the skin with a potent dose of vitamin-C. Vitamin-E and Grape Seed Extract which delivers powerful antioxidants as well as anti-aging and brightening benefits to the skin.

Serums are Individually prepackaged, disposable, and recyclable. This process helps to customize for each patient. Every patient receives his or her very own individually packaged infusion solution to use during the treatment.

The treatment has little to no downtime. It not only evenly exfoliates the skin, but it also rehydrates dry, damaged skin without over-processing it.

Serum Technology

The Differences That Matter

Hydrafacial is an excellent treatment, but for us, it’s one-size-fits-all treatment didn’t fit with what WMA want’s to achieve.

Under the guidance of a Physician, Dermalinfusion treatments can be diverse and completely customizable.

Dermalinfusion’s patented 3-in-1 technology infuses the skin with serums at the moment of exfoliation, which results in more substantial serum absorption, and retention, optimizing plumpness, hydration, tone, and texture.
