ClearV Vein Removal
ClearV is a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser from Sciton that collapses spider veins and broken capillaries with targeted thermal energy, without damaging the surrounding skin.

What Is ClearV And How Does It Work?
ClearV uses a 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength that's selectively absorbed by oxyhemoglobin, the compound that gives blood its color. The absorbed energy converts to heat within the vessel, damaging the vessel wall and causing it to close and be reabsorbed by the body. Because the thermal energy is contained within the vessel, surrounding skin experiences minimal collateral heating, making ClearV suitable across a range of vessel sizes and locations, from delicate facial vessels to larger spider veins on the legs to the diffuse redness associated with rosacea.
ClearV runs on the same Sciton platform as Halo and BBL (Broadband Light) at WMA, so combining treatments is coordinated and efficiently managed in a single visit when appropriate.
Is ClearV Worth It For You?
ClearV tends to be the ideal fit for those with:
- Spider veins or broken capillaries on the face or legs
- Rosacea or diffuse facial redness
- Vascular concerns across most skin tones
Patients who are currently tanning or planning significant sun exposure should let the skin clear before treatment. Those on anticoagulants, with active inflammatory skin conditions, or with a history of bleeding disorders should discuss their situation at consultation before booking. The realistic expectation is clearance, not permanent prevention: the underlying tendency to form new vessels remains, and annual maintenance is often worthwhile for rosacea or diffuse leg vessel patterns.

Your Treatment Experience
Each laser pulse feels like a brief, sharp snap localized to the vessel site. A cooling device or topical numbing may be used depending on the treatment area and vessel density. Facial vascular treatments typically take 20 to 30 minutes, while leg treatments vary based on the extent of the area.
Immediately after, treated vessels may look darker or slightly reddish, a normal sign the vessel is responding. Mild swelling and redness around treatment sites can persist for 24 to 48 hours, and strict sun protection of the treated area is essential for several weeks afterward to prevent pigment changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Superficial facial capillaries typically respond fully in one to two sessions. Leg veins vary by diameter and flow, and larger vessels may need two to three sessions.
The realistic expectation is clearance of treated vessels, not permanent prevention. The underlying tendency to form new vessels remains, so new ones may eventually appear nearby.
Yes. Rosacea and diffuse facial redness show progressive improvement over a series of two to three treatments, with annual maintenance often worthwhile.
Yes. ClearV runs on the same Sciton platform as Halo and BBL (Broadband Light) at Whistler Medical Aesthetics, so vascular, pigment, and resurfacing treatments can be coordinated in the same visit.
Expect mild swelling and redness at treated sites for 24 to 48 hours, and use strict sun protection on the treated area for several weeks afterward to prevent pigment changes.
