Sculptra & Biostimulators – Natural Collagen Stimulation
Gradual, natural-looking volume — built by your own body.
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) injectable that works differently from standard hyaluronic acid fillers. Rather than adding volume directly, it stimulates your body to produce its own collagen over time, rebuilding the structural foundation of the skin for results that look and feel genuinely natural.
Where traditional fillers deliver immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually across a series of treatments. Results develop over several months and can last two years or more — an important distinction for patients who want durable, subtle improvement rather than an immediate change.
Sculptra vs. Other Biostimulators
The biostimulatory injectable category includes Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) and Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite). Both trigger collagen production rather than simply adding volume, but differ in mechanism, texture, and ideal application. Our team will recommend the right option based on your current regimen, skin quality, and goals.

How Does It Work?
Sculptra contains microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that the body gradually absorbs. Once injected, the particles act as a scaffold that activates fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen production. New collagen builds around the injection sites over weeks and months, restoring volume and improving skin structure from within.
Most patients require a series of two to three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Full results are typically visible three to six months after the final session and can last up to two years or beyond.
Our Approach at Whistler Medical Aesthetics
Dr. Sarah Kennea and our team use Sculptra as part of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation approach. For patients seeking gradual, natural results that avoid an obvious or ""done"" appearance, biostimulatory injectables are often a cornerstone recommendation. Every treatment plan is tailored to your anatomy and goals.
